I think a drawing like this will also be important. This is an unfolded elevation of the gallery walls. I also attached a diagram of the unfolding. I know it is pretty self explanatory, but I think if we use very simple drawing styles it will not only be easy to read, but also easy […]

Ceiling Concepts

So, I have created 3 schemes for the ceiling, presented in order from the most feasible to nearly impossible. See below:
This scheme is basically an inverted podium with a hole cut in the side for a projector.
This second scheme is an enlarged podium (about 3 times larger than a standard podium). This larger opening can […]

Podium Base Size

Â
I keep thinking about the bases as stop signs which (if you must know) are 30″ wide.
Also, someone didn’t know about the Daleks from the BBC Dr. Who TV series, but see above.Â

Read the PREVIOUS post first, but then look at these pictures and don’t forget about the lovely ductwork…
As the undergrads have demonstrated, we could also clamp some brackets near the soffit of the beam to support one end of our struts, but I think I like the scheme as described below better.

Sean and I took a trip down to the archives today. As we had feared, there isn’t much down there for us. We found about 6-9 models which we think could be used and are actively soliciting people we know who had good models to send us photos of them if they […]

These images are of installations by Felice Varini. I am not so convinced about rotating the grid. I think if the tops of the podiums are rotated and then you rotate the grid it might become a Peter Eisenman project. There is something nice about all of the podiums starting form regular points and the […]

Hey Rob, thanks for taking my personal e-mail and using it in your post. It makes it look like you have multiple personality disorder or something.
I see what you mean about the extreme obtuse and acute conditions, but we may have to be more restrictive on the degree of rotation for which we want […]
